So if you didn't know this… well, it's time you do. The Bellingham Sunrise Rotary is Probably one of the Best Rotary Clubs Ever.
I know, I know!!! You have doubts…. but hear me out, or better yet… read on!!
Rotary was founded on February 23, 1905 - and in the last 120 years, there have been many many Rotary Clubs (currently just over 46,000 worldwide, in over 200 countries and geographic areas). Currently there are approximately 1.4 million members of Rotary International. This breaks out to currently 1.2 million Rotarians, 342,953 Interactors and 162,354 Rotaractors.
Rotary International has been and is currently one of the largest service organizations in the world, with members from hugely diverse backgrounds - and every one is dedicated to community service and humanitarian efforts. Rotary International states that our mission is to “Provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders”.
Being a Rotarian is to be part of one of the Best organizations in the World, and, well…. The Bellingham Sunrise Rotary is a part of this amazing organization, and we are proud to be here to serve our community.
That all said, what makes us one of the best… simple… It's the people.
It's our members.
It's our personality as a collective group. And when gathered together, we can and do make a difference.
We're active, we're listening, we're always planning, we set goals and typically blow those goals outta the water.
We're committed to doing the very best we can to support this community and… well… frankly we do.
And we do this by working together, to make Whatcom County that much stronger.
We're just people, trying to make a difference for our neighbors here locally and yet we stretch out and touch the world as well (by supporting schools in Mexico and orphans in Africa). Through our Foundation and through our support of the Rotary International Foundation - we will continue to make a difference for many years to come. We actually live out the motto “Service Above Self”, and we have a lot of fun doing it.
After all - The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the idea of service and to encourage the highest standards - both from our members and for the community. We ask, in all that we do…
