GET DIRTY: Here comes the big hands-on community service project. Next Saturday, Nov. 17, we'll meet at 9 a.m. at the former Birch Bay Bible Church to park, then walk a short distance to Terrell Creek to help NSEA (Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association) maintain this beautiful stream. Wear boots and prepare for muddy conditions. Tools and gloves will be provided. We'll work until around noon clearing overgrown bushes and weeds, then plant some young trees that the fish will enjoy because they'll provide shade for the creek.

Directions: Take Interstate 5 north past Ferndale and look for the Grandview Road exit (#266). When you exit, turn west on Grandview (away from the mountains)and drive about seven miles to Jackson Road. Turn right at the stop sign onto Jackson. Parking is available at the lot of the former Birch Bay Bible Church on the left. Look for signs leading you about a quarter-mile to the blue NSEA tent, where you'll be assigned a task.

Please make this a priority. We don't do many service projects; the more participants, the faster this will go.
